Graduate Students

We are currently recruiting graduate students who are self-motivated, enjoy tackling challenges, and have a curious mindset that constantly asks 'why'.

  • We welcome graduate students from Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science and Engineering, and related fields.
  • Teamwork experience and internships in relevant fields are considered a plus.
  • You are open to learn.
  • Research areas: Direct air capture, CO₂ hydrogenation, Biomass valorization for producing value-added chemicals with the goal of aiming at a carbon-neutral society.
Two ways to join
  • Cooperative graduate programme — your degree is awarded by a partner university such as Yonsei University or Korea University, while the doctoral research itself is carried out here at KIST.

  • KIST School, University of Science and Technology (UST) — you enrol at UST and carry out your research at KIST. UST supports attendance at international conferences, and its tuition and scholarship scheme is set up so that students can concentrate on their research rather than on financing their studies — a particular advantage for international applicants.

Internship for undergraduate students

The internship program at KIST offers undergraduate students a valuable opportunity to experience and learn about research and how it is conducted.

학점인정형 현장실습 안내 (Korean)

본 연구실에서는 각 대학별로 운영되고 있는 학점인정형 현장실습을 통해서 인턴 프로그램을 운영하고 있습니다. 해당 현장실습과정은 방학/학기 과정이 있으나, LAC에서는 방학-학기 장기 실습 과정생만을 (6개월) 운영하고 있습니다. 학기 및 방학 시작 전 1월, 5월, 8월, 11월경 대학별 학점인정형 현장실습통합센터를 통해 공지되오니 확인하시고 지원하시면 됩니다. 사전에 관심이 있는 경우, (1) 1페이지 이내의 자기소개를 포함한 이력서, (2) 성적증명서 사본과 함께 보내시면 상세 문의 가능합니다. Postdoctoral Researchers

We are looking for postdocs to work on Direct Air Capture (DAC) and Conversion. Please submit your curriculum vitae and a cover letter, both in PDF format, to Dr. Seongmin Jin at sjin@kist.re.kr.

  • Ph. D. in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science and Engineering, or related fields.
  • A strong publication record in the lab's areas of interest will be a key criterion in the evaluation process.
  • Background in Catalysis and Adsorption.
Get in touch before the official call opens. Postdoctoral appointments are made through KIST's formal recruitment, but the position has to be agreed with the PI beforehand. Please contact Dr. Jin at sjin@kist.re.kr ahead of time rather than waiting for the announcement.
